Interview: Brandon Swan – New Goals in 2015

Brandon Swan has been one of the most consistant performers in the Australia region over the past few years.

The 23 year old has qualified for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 CrossFit Games, and also dominated a number of local throwdowns during that period.

But in his three appearances at the StubHub Center, Swan is yet to have a real impact on the leaderboard, with his best finish at the Games being a 30th placing in 2014 (WD in 2013, 41st in 2012).

This year, however, Swan is taking a new mindset into the 2015 CrossFit season, and is setting the bar higher in terms of goals for this year.

We caught up with Brandon Swan recently while competing at the Rob Forte Invitational in Melbourne, Australia, where he told us:

“The goal is obviously to get to the CrossFit Games,[but] naturally I expect to do a lot better than I have in the past. I certainly think my mindset has changed over the past 12 months. The goal has been just to get  to the CrossFit Games, but this year the goal is to go and qualify for the CrossFit Games and win the CrossFit Games.”

“It may not happen this year or next year, but the end goal is to win the CrossFit Games and that’s what I’m focussed on, and even if I never get there, I certainly know im going to do a lot better with that goal in my head.”

During our chat, Swan also spoke about how he’s preparing for the upcoming 2015 Pacific Regional, who he thinks his main competitors will be this year in Wollongong, and who his favourite all-time CrossFit athlete is.
