For those unfamiliar with Rigor Gear it was started by three friends, Damien Lavallee, Evan Lobalbo and Jarryd Letona earlier this year. Damien and Jarryd were former partners at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida when they decided to launch their line of CrossFit focused apparel with their friend and designer, Evan. The team already had a custom apparel and fishing company so were able to takes their skills, knowledge and expertise from that venture and apply it to Rigor Gear. And apply indeed they have.
Jarryd sent some me some of Rigor Gears shirts just last week and I have to say the moment I put it on it quickly became a favorite. We get a lot of gear given to us here at The Rx Review, so I am not easily won over but I was throughly impressed with the feel of the fabric and the design of the Rigor Gear shirts.
Much of the reason for this is due to the fact they use a process called dye sublimation. This requires the design of the shirt to actually be gassed directly onto the fabric and means you can apply a high resolution image to the shirt so it will not crack or peel. So unlike many shirts that feel like you have a bunch of heavy stickers thrown on the front, this process makes the shirt feel light and breathable, which is great when working out. Then again, I liked the shirt so much I didn’t want to use it during a WOD.
Unfortunately the process cannot be done on darker fabrics such as black. So in that instance they then use a softer heat transfer called plastisol that is similar to screen printing.
Either way I love the fabric and design and what make this giveaway even better is the fact it is open to anyone in the world!
