Bodyweight exercises make up a huge amount of programming for most CrossFit affiliates across the globe. Just look at some of the WOD’s you might have done this week, or the programming for the CrossFit Games, and you can see how common bodyweight movements are.
Double unders, dips, air squats, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and burpees are some of the many movements most functional fitness athletes will do on a weekly, if not daily basis.
While it is important and beneficial to teach your body to function under heavy and differing loads, the benefits of bodyweight exercises can not be overlooked! Among many things, bodyweight exercises are known to improve core strength and balance, increase flexibility and muscle strength, and are efficient exercises that can virtually be done anywhere! So why would anyone not want to do them!
