CrossFit Regionals: Central East Winners

Out of all the CrossFIt Regionals taking place this year, there is no doubt the Central East division had the biggest buzz about it.

Not only does the region boast names like Rich Froning, Dan Bailey and Julie Foucher, but this year ESPN3 was broadcasting the whole event live across the world.

It’s fair to say the hype was justified too, with a stack of world records broken over the weekend.

In the men’s section, last years champ Rich Froning showed everyone why he is the ‘fittest man on earth’ winning four of the six events to finish in first place. His training partner Dan Bailey, who also broke a few world records during the event, finished in second spot, with 2010 Champ Graham Holmberg rounding out the top three.

Because two of the top three finishers were previous champions, fourth and fifth place would also get a ticket to the CrossFit Games. That means Marcus Hendren and Scott Panchik will also be competing at the Home Depot Center in July.

Julie Foucher was the standout performer in the women’s field with podium finishes in all six events. In the end she finished in top spot, more than 10 points ahead of Lindsey Smith in second place.Heather Welsh rounded out the top three.

Finally, in the teams section, SPC CrossFit secured victory, with CrossFit Maximus and Rogue Gahanna also securing qualifying spots.
