In this six-part series titled Building Burgess, we meet Mike Burgess a 42-year-old British Army veteran and find out about his history and effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on his life.
In this episode Mike discusses some of the challenges of developing personal relationships when dealing with PTSD on his way to taking his dog Kenji for a winter’s day walk. While warming up for a WOD, the discussion turns to the number of strong women in the CrossFit community. The episode culminates with a grinding WOD composed of push jerks and toes-to-bar. discusses the difficulty getting a good sleep when you have PTSD. Next we follow him to a Veterans day ceremony, something he has shied away from in the past. Mike discusses some of the physical and mental changes he is beginning to experience through CrossFit and we witness some of his workout footage.
