It really does pay to be fit!

HQ has just revealed the total amount of prize money up for grabs at the 2013 CrossFit Games will increase by more than 40 per cent from last year.

In the 2011 and 2012 seasons, a total of US$1 million was on offer for all Games competitors, with each individual winner pocketing a cool US$250,000.

This year that amount will increase, as too will the prize money for all top 10 finishers. In addition, Masters athletes and Teams will also earn more cash.

2013 will also be the first year where the top three finishers in each Event will earn money. Male and female individual athletes who finish first, second and third in each individual event will now be rewarded separately with checks for $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000.

Here’s a breakdown of how much cash is up for grabs at the 2013 CrossFit Games:

Individuals

1st – $275,000
2nd – $65,000
3rd – $35,000
4th – $10,000
5th – $9,000
6th – $8,000
7th – $7,000
8th – $6,000
9th – $5,000
10th – $4,000

Per Individual Event

1st – $3,000
2nd – $2,000
3rd – $1,000

Teams

1st – $40,000
2nd – $20,000
3rd – $10,000

Masters

1st – $3,000
2nd – $2,000
3rd – $1,000
