The 2013 CrossFit Open will get underway next March, but one of the burning questions is, will 6-time Games competitor Chris Spealler be competing in it?
In the lead up to the 2012 CrossFit Games, The 33 year old announced that he would retire from the sport at the end of the event. He said the timing was right for him to focus on other aspects of his life.
However, since his 22nd place finish at Carson in July this year, no official retirement announcement has been made by Spealler.
We spoke to 2012 CrossFit Games runner-up Matt Chan this week, and he was quite confident Chris would be going around one more year in 2013.
“I don’t buy that Chris is retiring this year,” he says. “I think we’ll find him competing in the Open and the Regionals next year, and quite possibly the Games.”
The CrossFit Open begins in three months, so it’s fair to say we’ll have an answer to this question by then.
But for now, we want to know what you think. In a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question: Do you think Chris Spealler will compete in the 2013 CrossFit Open?
