Poll: CrossFit Invitational

Welcome to The Rx Review’s first ever CrossFit Poll!

Every fortnight we’ll be releasing a poll on a particular topic to find out what the public really think about it.

This fortnight, we’re talking about the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Invitational.

The first ever Reebok CrossFit Invitational will take place in London next week, with both Team USA and Team Europe going through their final preparations.

The event has generated a fair bit of talk in the CrossFit community, in particular about the 12 athletes chosen to compete.

The selected teams are as follows:

Team USA: Rich Froning Jr (Captain), Matt Chan, Jason Kahlipa, Julie Foucher, Rebecca Voigt, Kristan Clever.

Team Europe: Annie Thorisdottir (Captain), Samantha Briggs, Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir, Frederik Aegidius, Mikko Aronpaa, Numi Snaer Katrinarson.

While there is no denying the talent in the list, there are a few other athletes who could easily have been included.

Talayna Fortunato finished 2nd at the 2012 CrossFit Games, yet couldn’t find a way into Team USA. Kyle Kasperbauer also had a podium finish at the Home Depot Center this year and wasn’t included.

For the Europeans, Lacee Kovacs recently beat Frederik Aegidius in the 2012 Fit as Fu*k competition and probably deserved a look in, while Thuridur Erla Helgadottir could easily have been chosen over Samantha Briggs.

Then there’s the crowd favourite Chris Spealler who everyone would have loved to have seen at the ExCeL Centre on October 13.

With all this selection drama, we want you to tell us who YOU think should have been included in the 12 that will compete in the first ever CrossFit Invitational.
