2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Open: 12.5 Day Three Results

With just one day left in the 2012 CrossFit Games Open there’s still plenty of movement in all leaderboards’.

Last year’s winners’ Annie Thorisdottir and Rich Froning Jr. are both yet to complete workout 12.5, so we can expect to see even more changes over the next 24 hours.

In terms of current leaders, 2012 champ Kristan Clever re-did the workout and increased her score from 137 reps to 145, however, she was still unable to record the best female score.

In the mens’ half, 25 year old Sean Thomson remains the leader, although plenty of big names are still yet to register there score.

Also, last years runner-up Josh Bridges, who is unable to compete in this years event due to commitments with the US Marines, has shown everyone how well he could have gone this year, posting an ‘unofficial’ score of 174 reps in workout 12.5. That’s 15 more than any other competitor has got so far this week.

At 11am AEST, 4pm PT, this his how the main leaderboards’ stand:

As she has done for most of the Open, Kristan Clever leads the women’s field after scoring the second best score of the week. Her 145 reps, however, was still not enough to beat Southern California’s Kat Apostolina’s score of 126.

Despite her great effort this week, Apostolina is still well outside the main group, sitting in 95th place overall.

Canadian Michelle Letendre is currently in second spot overall, while Rebecca Voigt rounds out the top three, despite registering just 116 reps for workout 12.5.

The burning question in this division, is how well Annie Thorisdottir will go. Last year’s champ is still yet to post a score this week and there is a lot of interest in where she will end up at the end of the Open.

Just like Thorisdottir, last year’s male champ Rich Froning is also yet to post a score for workout 12.5, and heading into the final 24 hours Sean Thomson is still the leader.

His 155 reps (fifth best score overall) was enough to see him leapfrog Orlando Trejo yesterday, and at this stage both remain in the top two positions. Thomas Hooten from the Mid Atlantic region sits in third spot.

2008 champ Jason Khalipa still holds the best score for workout 12.5 with 159 reps, one ahead of buddy and training partner Neal Maddox.
